HISTORY LEARNING MODULE OF LAMPUNG HEROES BASED ON E-LEARNING AS AN EFFORT TO CULTIVATE CHARACTER EDUCATION IN REALIZING GOLDEN INDONESIA

Abstract


Historical learning in character building can be seen from regional struggle figures who set an example in the right positive values. Character cultivation with students can give meaning to the importance of the value of unity and integrity as well as hard work and never give up. The purpose of this research is to provide innovative solutions in the form of an e-module for learning the history of Lampung heroes which contains local history based on character education in creating Indonesia's golden generation. This research uses research and development (R&D) methods which was adapted from the ADDIE development research model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evuluation). The results of the research from material expert validation get a percentage value of 95.38% in the very valid category. Media expert validation got a score percentage of 93.33% included in the very valid category. History teacher education practitioners get 93.75% score percentage which is included in the very valid category. The student's response to this media when the trial was carried out got an average percentage value of >70% for each indicator which means showing a positive response. Based on experiments conducted on two different classes, the average in the experimental class was 85.71 and the control class was 78.75 which means the media developed is effective in history learning. Overall, it is stated that the innovative solution in the form of an e-module for learning the history of Lampung heroes which contains local history based on character education in creating the Indonesia’s golden generation for students is feasible to use and gets a positive response from students.

1. Introduction

Education is the basis of the progress of nation building. Students as the golden generation are prepared for the future and teachers play the main key to success in producing a excellent and quality Indonesian golden generation [1]. The challenges of quality education require teachers to be more creative, innovative, and inspiring in designing quality learning activities to carry out Indonesian golden generation. Preparing the Indonesian generation as a golden generation, the government and educational implementers continue to make the education process the main road and make work that needs to be completed [2].

Education has a very big role as a center of excellence to prepare human character in facing global challenges. In this case, if Indonesia has succeeded in forming a strong character of the Indonesian people, then Indonesia will become a strong nation in all sectors [3]. Where the term character education was introduced around the 2000s. This is implicitly emphasized in the National Long-Term Development Plan (RJPN) 2005-2025, which places character education as the basis for realizing the vision of national development [4].

Character education is a process in guiding students to change behavior, attitudes and culture which will later create a civilized community. In addition, character education is also a system for inculcating character values in the components of knowledge, awareness, action and ability to implement these values. Character education can be implemented in learning [5]. 

The importance of character education is to educate and instill character values in producing a good personality, forming optimism and self-confidence, having good morals and good ethics applied in the environment. Moreover, character education with education can optimize the development of students who will be oriented to the formation of students as individuals who excel in cognitive aspects and arealso characters who are able to face all problems and conflicts in their lives [6].

Cultivating character education is not easy in implementation to students. There are obstacles that arise such as the development of globalization in the field of information technology that hinders the process of character education because parents or educators cannot limit the rapid flow of information, even students in accessing various information with a very broad scope. Besides that, the cultivation of character education takes a long process, so it cannot be directly felt the results of character planting to students [7].

Efforts in character building that can be carried out by the government through ministries in educational institutions through the school programs provided and the community who play an active role in these efforts so that character values can be embedded in themselves by forming a responsible soul, having ethics and morals, and good attitudes [8].

Character education is closely related to history learning. In relation to character education, history learning must be directed at understanding and living up to the character values reflected in historical stories. Basically, the historical journey itself is a journey to shape the character of students, so that education carried out must pay attention to the character values in history [9]. Lessons become a strategy in cultivating character education for the formation of character, dignified national civilization and have a sense of nationality and love for the homeland through the historical material taught. In the regulation of the Minister of National Education, history education is one of the subjects with great potential in developing character education [10].

Historical learning in character cultivation can be seen from regional hero figures who provide examples in the right positive values in inculcating these characters with students can give meaning to the importance of the value of unity and integrity as well as hard work and never give up [11]. Learning about heroes in various regions will increase awareness that every tribe and other group contributes to the birth of the Indonesian nation. This will be the basis for the growth of a sense of nationalism. History lessons play an important role in fostering students' attitudes to become good citizens [12].

As an effort to realize the improvement of the quality of students towards the golden generation of Indonesia, it must also be supported by adequate human resources so that there is a balance, there is an innovative solution from the author, namely the e-module for learning the history of Lampung heores. The e-module for learning the history of Lampung heroes is a local history lesson based on character education in shaping Indonesia's golden generation. Instilling character values through this e-module of learning the history of Lampung heroes is very important because it not only forms the golden generation of Indonesia, but also creates a climate for sustainable history learning and is part of the innovation of learning media.


4. Conclusion

Based on the results of research and data analysis, it can be concluded as follows:

1. The use of inappropriate learning media can have an impact on student learning outcomes that are less than optimal, therefore we need a learning media that is suitable for students, as well as the need for a local history-based learning media.

2. The development of this learning module is carried out using development procedures starting from analysis, design, development, implementation to evaluation. The learning media is in the form of an innovation-based history learning module that includes local warrior figures.

3. The results of the overall validation state that the innovative solution in the form of an e-module for learning the history of Lampung heroes that contains local history based on character education in creating the Indonesian golden generation for students is feasible to use in history learning.

4. Test the implementation of the use of the Lampung hero's history learning module which contains local history based on character education, able to improve student learning outcomes and get a positive response from students. Based on this, it can be concluded that the use of learning media for the history learning module of Lampung heroes which contains local history based on character education is effective in learning history in schools.
